ISHII Shozo
In 1993, ISHII Shozo reorganized the Faculty of Physical Education into the Faculty of Health and Sports Science. He oversaw the completion of Juntendo University Main Hospital Building Number 1, which was the culmination of the Juntendo 150th Anniversary
Commemorative Project. In addition, he improved the capabilities of Juntendo University Shizuoka Hospital by expanding the facilities and increasing the number of beds, bringing the hospital up to the standards of a Juntendo University Affiliated
Hospital and furthering the healthcare opportunities in the region.

The renovations to Building Number 1 included the latest medical technologies, changing the potential outlook for patients. Despite equipping the facilities with state-of-the-art equipment, the hospital maintained a patient first attitude.

Establishment of the Faculty of Health and Sports Science
In 1993, the Faculty of Physical Education was reorganized to establish the Faculty of Health and Sports Science. While retaining the basic policies of the Faculty of Physical Education, the new faculty adhered to the basic principle of fostering individuals with multifaceted insights and skills, while aiming to ensure that they enjoy a healthy, active, and rewarding lifestyle throughout their lives.
