Faculty of International Liberal Arts Undergraduate Program

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

1. Applicants must be foreign nationals.
2. Applicants must be able to obtain or renew “Student” status of residence in Japan by March 31, 2027.
3. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
1. Have completed, or be expected to complete by March 31, 2027, a course of study outside Japan equivalent to 12 years of school education in Japan, or have an equivalent qualification designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
2. Have obtained, or be expected to obtain by March 31, 2027, one of the following qualifications outside Japan:
   • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
   • German Abitur
   • French Baccalauréat
   • GCE A-Level or International A-Level
   • European Baccalaureate
3. Have completed, or be expected to complete by March 31, 2027, a 12-year curriculum at an educational institution outside Japan accredited by one of the following international accreditation organizations:
   • WASC
   • ACSI
   • CIS
   • NEASC
   • Cognia
   • COBIS
4. Applicants must meet one of the following English language requirements:
• Have achieved Level III or higher on the English Score Comparison Table below and be able to submit proof of the score;
• Have English as their native or first language; or
• Reside in a country or region where English is an official language and have received their regular school education in English for the most recent six years. Documentary evidence is required.

Applicants from countries or regions where national or standardized examinations such as the SAT, ACT, GCE, Gaokao, CSAT, or UEE are administered are encouraged to take the relevant examination.

• submit a copy of the Test Taker Score Report; and
• request ETS to send the Official Score Report (Institutional Score Report) electronically to Juntendo University by the application deadline.

Applicants must complete the online application registration, pay the application fee, and ensure that all required application documents arrive at the University within the application period.

Applications must be submitted through the online application system, “University Application Net.”
Applicants must register with University Application Net before submitting an application.
After completing the online application:

1. Pay the entrance examination fee.
2. Download and print the required application documents.
3. Prepare all required certificates and supporting documents.
4. Mail the complete application package to the Faculty of International Liberal Arts Admissions Office.

Applicants are selected based on a comprehensive evaluation of the following:

• application documents;
• an essay; and
• an interview.

Application Documents
The application documents, including the Statement of Purpose, Personal Statement, academic transcript, and certificates of qualifications and other achievements, will be reviewed and used as reference materials for the interview.

Essay
The essay is designed to assess the applicant’s ability to think critically and express ideas clearly and logically in written English, in accordance with the qualities sought in the Faculty’s Admission Policy.
The essay must be written in English.
Duration: 80 minutes

Interview
The interview is conducted with reference to the applicant’s application documents and assesses the applicant’s motivation, interests, experiences, and potential in relation to the qualities sought in the Faculty’s Admission Policy.
The interview will be conducted in English.
Duration: Approximately 15 minutes
The interview may include questions about:

• reasons for applying to the Faculty of International Liberal Arts and Juntendo University;
• future academic and career goals;
• experiences, strengths, and achievements described in the Personal Statement;
• social issues and recent news;
• books, films, or other experiences that have made an impression on the applicant; and
• the applicant’s educational background and experiences.

Applicants who are unable to come to campus because they reside outside Japan or for other eligible circumstances may be permitted to take the interview online.
Instructions regarding eligibility and procedures for the online interview will be provided to eligible applicants through the Applicant Portal or University Application Net.
Admission decisions are made based on the overall evaluation of the essay and interview, with reference to the application documents. Applicants are selected in order of their overall performance.

Special Scholarship A

Successful applicants who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and personal qualities may receive a full waiver of the first-year tuition fee of JPY 1,000,000.

Special Scholarship B

Successful applicants who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and personal qualities may receive a JPY 500,000 reduction in first-year tuition.
A limited number of students are selected for each scholarship.
A tuition reduction program is also available after enrollment for students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance and personal qualities.

Applicants who require accommodations for the entrance examination or academic study due to a disability or medical condition should consult the Faculty of International Liberal Arts Admissions Office before applying.
