All applicants must have met or expect to meet one of the requirements listed below by March 31, 2023.
- Graduated from the department of medicine of a faculty of medicine or from a faculty of dentistry at a university in Japan
- Completed a six-year curriculum in the study of pharmacology or veterinary science at a university in Japan
- Completed 18 years of formal education outside of Japan

- Completed 18 years of formal education from a school outside of Japan by studying a distance learning course administered by that school while living in Japan

- Graduated from an educational institution in Japan that is recognized by a country outside of Japan as corresponding to the university curriculum in that country’s educational system, and which has been approved by MEXT

- Obtained a degree equivalent to a bachelor's degree by graduating from an academic program at least 5 years in length b) at a school or university outside of Japan a)

a) Applicants must have graduated from an institution certified by a government or accreditation institution outside of Japan that reviews academic and research activities, or that has been approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports,
Science and Technology (MEXT) (Foreign University Branches (Graduate School Equivalent) in Japan Designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology).
b) Applicants who have graduated from a distance learning course administered by a school outside of Japan while living in Japan or from an international school in Japan, whose curriculum corresponds to a country outside of Japan and was designated in the preceding issue (Foreign University Branches in Japan Designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) are qualified to apply.

(1) Applicants who have studied medicine or dentistry at a university’s faculty of medicine or dentistry under the old University Ordinance (Edict No. 388 of 1918) and have graduated from such a faculty
(2) Applicants who have graduated from the National Defense Medical College under the Act for Establishment of the Ministry of Defense (Act No. 164 of 1954)
(3) Applicants who have completed a master’s course or a professional graduate school course under Article 99, Paragraph 2 of the School Education Act (Act No. 26 of 1947), applicants who are eligible to receive a master’s degree, applicants who have been
enrolled in a doctoral course for 2 years or more without any division between the first 2 years and the second 3 years, have acquired at least 30 credits, and have received the necessary research guidance (including those who fall under Article 6 (1)
of the Degree Regulations (Ministry of Education ordinance No. 9 of 1953) prior to revision by the Ministerial Ordinance Partially Revising the Degree Regulations (Ministry of Education ordinance No. 29 of 1974)), and who are recognized by a graduate
school or major as having academic ability equivalent or superior to a person who has graduated from a course to study medicine, a course to study dentistry, or a course to study pharmacology at a university which is mainly intended to cultivate practical
clinical ability, or a course to take veterinary medicine at a university
(4) Applicants who have graduated from a university (excluding medical courses, dental courses, pharmacological courses whose main purpose is to cultivate practical clinical abilities, and veterinary courses) or who have been engaged in research for 2 years
or longer at a university, research institute, etc., after completing a 16-year course in school education in a foreign country, and who are recognized by a graduate school or major as having, based on the results of said research, etc., academic ability equivalent or superior to a person who has graduated from a course to study medicine, a course
to study dentistry, or a course to study pharmacology at a university which is mainly intended to cultivate practical clinical ability, or a course to take veterinary medicine at a university [*2 Eligibility to apply will be reviewed.]
- Applicants whom the Graduate School has recognized through separate preliminary eligibility review as possessing the equivalent or greater academic ability than a person who has graduated from an undergraduate program in the department of
medicine of a faculty of medicine or a faculty of dentistry and who have reached the age of 24 years.

Entrance Examination for Working Adults
Applicants who meet the requirements mentioned above and who are currently working must submit a letter of consent from the head of their workplace.
Entrance Examination for International Applicants (Excludes Those with Permanent Residency in Japan)
In addition to the above eligibility requirements, applicants must meet the following two conditions.
(1) Currently residing in Japan and have not obtained permanent residence for Japan
(2) After admission, applicant will be able to obtain residence status (student) as an international student of Juntendo University
In addition to the requirements mentioned above, it is preferable for international applicants to have passed Level N5 or above of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) held by Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (in Japan) or the Japan Foundation
(overseas) (certificate must be submitted).
Entrance Examination for International Applicants Living Abroad (Pre-arrival Admission Scheme)
In addition to meeting the above application requirements, applicants who meet all of conditions (1) to (3) below will take an oral examination over the internet, based on which a decision on admission will be made, without the need for the applicant
to travel to Japan.
(1) Persons who are currently living outside Japan and who do not hold Japanese citizenship;
(2) Persons who, after admission, will be able to obtain residence status (student) as an international student of Juntendo University;
(3) Persons who meet one of the following language requirements and who are able to submit the corresponding test certificates (in principle, such certificates must be dated on or after January 1, 2017).
1) TOEFL iBT: 76 or above; PBT/ITP: 540 or above*
2) IELTS 6.0 or above*
3) TOEIC 700 or above
4) JLPT N3 or above
* TOEFL iBT Home Edition and IELTS Indicator scores are also accepted. TOEFL iBT My Best
TM scores will also be accepted.
(Security Export Control in Japan)
In accordance with the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act, which seeks to protect both national and international peace and security, Juntendo University has established the Juntendo University Security Export Control Regulations to preserve academic
and research activities. International students accepted into the graduate school program should consult with their supervising professor about their research prior to submitting the application because there are cases where students have to modify
their application due to the research. International students accepted into the graduate school program must sign a pledge indicating they will comply with the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act at the time of their enrollment.

Applicants who wish to apply to the Graduate School based on the application requirements listed in 7. (4), or 8. will first be reviewed by the Graduate School Committee as to whether they meet the application requirements before they apply.
Applicants seeking a preliminary eligibility review must submit all of the following documents to the address listed below. An applicant will only be able to undertake the application procedures if their eligibility to apply is approved.
